Food was the center of this family, and the recipes from their mother had been lovingly passed down to them. Coming from a Spanish background, all the recipes were written in their mother tongue. The client did not require a translation but wanted it preserved in a way that honored Casa Mila that was true to her and the rest of the family.

In getting to know the client, I got to hear the stories of her mother’s kitchen and the moments the family shared around the table, all of which I took to heart.

For the cover, I incorporated illustrations of classic dishes mentioned in the book, plus the Spanish tiles that honored her mother’s kitchen were spread throughout the pages.   

After everything was put together, we sent the copy to print and it was gifted to the family. It was a one-of-a-kind project that I would be honored to do again.
